Strategic Partnership with National Health Authority

As one of the strategic partners to National Health Authority, we provide thought leadership & support for experimentation of (1) expanding health coverage to the “missing middle” population and (2) establishing PMJAY linkages to primary healthcare. HSTP with its collaborators is developing strategies to address both these issues drawing from theory, global best practices, expert consultations and key Indian stakeholders and change agents.
Strategic Partnership with National Health Authority
Initiative
HSTP and NHA agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding in 2019 where we will work closely with them for the next three years on a mid-long term strategy to expand coverage to non-poor population and establish primary healthcare linkages. Pilots will be designed to test identified strategies and document learnings for scal-up across India.

Exploratory Health Systems Research Studies

Health systems are complex and dynamic. The nature and levers of change are to be well understood to design & implement interventions to improve health outcomes in India. We have prioritized to deepen our knowledge and workings of primary healthcare & health systems governance in India. We use a systems thinking approach, which recognizes that the whole of the system is more than its constituent parts and the need to engage diverse actors in identifying gaps & opportunities in specific health systems components.

We are currently conducting four specific exploratory studies that examine and document best practices in primary healthcare, develop a framework for multi-sectoral integration for primary healthcare strengthening in urban settings, role of local governance in improving health outcomes & healthcare regulations pertaining to service delivery in India.

Integrated Urban Health Systems – Indore

We are working in collaboration with Swasti, IIM Indore and relevant health systems stakeholders to develop a framework for Healthy City Indore outlining pathways for inter-sectoral collaboration. This includes summarising efforts towards Health Cities across the globe and in India, providing direction for future action.

Health Systems Governance in India

This study aims at generating a body of work to strengthen health systems in India which would be available as a resource to generate evidence for researchers, academia, policy makers, regulatory bodies and other organizations working in health system strengthening.

Primary Healthcare Landscape in India

To strengthen primary healthcare systems, HSTP partnered with Swasti to document select Indian PHC models/ innovations using a case study approach identifying what works and what does not.
